Warm Greetings From Cairo!

So, I arrived in Cairo on Fri 1/23...sorry for the late update for all 2 of you who are reading this. I'm staying in a new part of Cairo and high speed internet hasn't been installed yet, just dial up. And I'd rather watch paint dry than try and upload pics and write a blog on dial up...how jaded I've become. But seriously...it takes that long. So I jump on when I can, when I visit a family member with a highspeed connection. I don't even say hi, I just run straight for the nearest ethernet port and plug my laptop in, I'm like a crackhead searching for his next fix...it's quite pathetic. And there's the other part...I go EVERYWHERE with my laptop. It's like my purse...or security blanket. I look like such a little girl with my laptop bag cuz it looks like a manbag. So here are some quick pics from the beautiful city of Cairo. I was told it was freezing in NY so I'm going to go ahead and rub it in and tell you I'm wearing t-shirts during the day and a light jacket or long sleeve shirt at night. The weather is beautiful. Sunny and breezy 75-80 everyday and the evening it drops to about 60-65. Enjoy the snow suckas!

The Great Pyramids of Giza...I went really far to get this shot so enjoy it. These things are HUGE...I can't even explain it to you. Each limestone brick is about the size of a Buick. And the largest pyramid has over 2 million limestone bricks

Downtown Cairo...yes...we have buildings. We don't live in pyramids. People actually ask me that.

One of the many bridges that cross the Nile...the longest river in the world. Not to be confused with the Amazon...the WIDEST river in the world. The Nile cuts right through Cairo in several locations.

Whoever said NY is the city that never sleeps has never been to Cairo.

I'm leaving for Dubai this sat 1/31. I'll be in a hotel for the first couple weeks until I find an apartment and I'm pretty sure I'll have high speed internet at my fingertips the whole time I'm there. If not...I'm going to be pretty peeved and I'll have to find some sort of internet cafe. But I think it'll be fine. If they can build ISLANDS in the MIDDLE OF THE WATER, I think they can handle a T1 line, so fret not. Everyone wants to know how I'm doing, how I'm feeling. It's weird. Jetlag sucks...I think the devil himself invented it to mess with our minds. I can't tell what day or what time it is. I don't fall asleep before 5am and I wake up at about 8am or 9am feeling pretty good, only to completely crash at about 2pm or 3pm like a 3 year old. It sucks...I'm waiting for my body to get acclamated but it's not happening. Otherwise it's cool. I'm trying to just relax and enjoy this week of not having to worry about much because once I hit Dubai it's going to be pretty chaotic, between trying to find residence, learning my way around, starting the new job, and getting into a groove. I really miss all you guys. It's funny...the last 2 months back home I didn't really feel nostalgic or sad just crazed with preparing for my departure...now that I'm here and cut off from everyone, I'm feeling a little homesick. And a little freaked that I'm going somewhere completely new without knowing ANYONE. But I'm also a little excited. OK...this is all you get for now. I'll update more soon, hopefully. Enjoy the pics of Cairo...it really is beautiful.

My cousin got married this past weekend and the wedding was fun. I know it doesn't really have anything to do with the blog but I couldn't help myself...I just look too damn sexy in a suit, that I thought it only fair to share with the rest of you.

The bride and groom walking in...very nice...I shed a tear.

Egyptian weddings start around 10pm and end around 4am...that's 6 hours. You get 1 hour to eat. The rest is this...dancing. For FIVE HOURS. They put us to shame. And none of this electric slide shit. These guys are going at it! I'm talking rump shaking for the whole time.

Me and my cousin...the groom. That huge ass grin on his face is cuz he's finally getting laid. No premarital sex in Egypt...or so they say.

Now you see where I get my boyish good looks...that's me with my pops. Well...SOME of my good looks :) I think my mom gave me a little too.

OK...more updates to come.

And yea, aren't the pyramids awesome??? they are one of the few things that are more awesome in person than in the most awesomest pictures.

Anyhoo, we miss you too!!! And about your warm weather? Maybe we LIKE freezing our ears off every morning!! Huh, ever thought of that? HUH!? HAVE YOU? :P
